By far the most recognizable property of international trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, the so-called “temple” is one of the most fascinating set pieces in the Epstein saga. The story appears to start in the mid to late 2000s, when Epstein sets out to create what he refers to as a “hammam” – a type of Middle Eastern public bath dating back centuries. Over the years, Epstein’s vision would morph, and the name of the building would too. It’s been called 5 Palms, the library, the observatory, the office, the spa, and the mosque, among other names. Interestingly, the only thing Epstein never called it… was the temple. This is the complete history and the many theories, of perhaps the most bizarre building in Epstein’s vast real estate portfolio.
