I. Background on SHU
- Moved to SHU approx. 1.5 months ago.
- on J-Tier, room 205, in cell by himself
- cellmate was Sears (Cadre) for a day, no
cellmate for over 30 days. When first arrived
was on L Tier.
II. Epstein
- When he first arrived, heard people asked for
many but Epstein said no
- Heard Epstein requested to go to suicide watch.
Many inmates in SHU ask to go to suicide watch
for a break from SHU.
- Heard Epstein was going to legal for a bit.
- CP ran see people enter/exit SHU from his cell,
and saw Epstein coming and going
III. Epstein death
- Not sure when they found him, learned he
was definitely dead Saturday night around dinner
time when a CO confirmed it.
- "Jeffrey" was across the hall from Epstein +
may have seen something
- On Saturday night, after he was confirmed
dead, someone on M-tier was yelling
"Ms. Noel is a murderer."

IV. Correctional Officers
A. Noel
- Pops to gate a lot. Stays off tiers.
- used to be "mean" but she's now generally
"cool"
- worked SHU a lot in the past month
B. Thomas
- Words in laundry. Hear he brings in
contraband w/ the cadre
- He's "hands on" and can be rough
- Thomas responded to inmate Marc Webster's
threatened suicide w/ Lt. [REDACTED] (short, dark hair)
→ Lt. [REDACTED] is rough + has a low tolerance
for inmates
→ Thomas + [REDACTED] tossed the cell of
Webster + were rough w/ him.
- Thomas works w/ Cadre. Two were
caught w/ contraband:
1) Chris - Tier K
2) Mike - Tier L
They are cadre who work in laundry. They
deal in cigarettes and K2
- people place orders via cellphone + pay
with CashApp. Cadre bring contraband to
insulin area and give it to runner from a unit.
- cigarettes cost $300-500

- Asked CP for a bag of chips to fix his light.

- Recent search of SHU was not successful
b/c it was too slow
- people use CashApp, Western Union, Money Gram
- [REDACTED] doesn't search people he likes
- One day "Lucky" went to get contraband on
visitor floor. He dropped it. [REDACTED] picked it up,
asked whose balloon it was, and said he would
flush it down toilet

V. Counts
- COs do counts. supposed to be 2 COs but sometimes
just one
- can't recall if they do overnight counts on date
of Epstein death
- He's a deep sleeper
- They just started doing rounds after Epstein died.
- On many nights, hear them doing counts but not
rounds.
- can't remember Noel or Thomas talking about rounds
- can't see guard desk from cell. Can see main door,
closet, and a little bit of L + M tier
- Doesn't know if they were sleeping.
