Dans un échange interne, l’intellectuel américain Al Seckel, mort dans un accident de voiture dans le Lo en 2015, explique qu’un site consacré à Epstein doit présenter en détail « plusieurs personnalités du monde de la recherche ». L’objectif est de produire suffisamment de contenus positifs pour contrer, écrit-il, « page après page » de résultats négatifs dans Google.
Autrement dit : créer un récit alternatif suffisamment visible pour remonter dans les moteurs de recherche.
À cette époque, Jeffrey Epstein sort de prison. Condamné en 2008 pour des faits liés à l’exploitation sexuelle de mineures, il cherche alors à reconstruire son image publique. Les invitations adressées à des chercheurs et les projets philanthropiques ne suffisent pas : il doit reconstruire méthodiquement sa réputation numérique.
