CA House Committee Member Demands Pam Bondi’s Epstein Testimony Is Taped

A slew of high-profile men and women named in the Epstein files, scheduled to testify in late April and early May, got a pass when Congress paused hearings connected to the sex trafficking billionaire. Former White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler. Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

Pam Bondi is not one of them. The former Attorney General, fired by President Trump last month, is now scheduled to testify about the Justice Department’s botched handling of the Epstein Transparency Act files on May 29, a date that Democrats say was negotiated with her team in secret.

Now, California Congressman Robert Garcia, the ranking Democratic member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, who had initiated contempt of Congress charges against Bondi after she failed to answer a subpoena last month, wants the House Oversight Committee to ensure that her testimony is made public.

In a letter to Republican James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, sent Monday, Garcia wrote: “Bondi’s testimony must be filmed and made available to the American people in the interest of transparency.” In his letter, the federal lawmaker also raised concerns that Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who is on the shortlist to replace Bondi, will be allowed to act as the former Justice Department official’s lawyer when she faces Congressional questioning.

Garcia also maligned Comer for the committee’s shift in format for the Epstein hearings from formal on-the-record taped hearings to informal, and unreleased to the public “roundtables,” which are not conducted under oath.
