Government considers removing Andrew from royal line of succession
The government is considering introducing legislation to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of royal succession, the BBC understands.

The move, which would prevent Mountbatten-Windsor from ever becoming King, would come after the police investigation has concluded.

The King's brother remains eighth in line to the throne despite being stripped of his titles, including "prince", last October amid pressure over his ties to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

LONDON, Feb 20 (Reuters) - With the downfall of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near complete, the former prince no longer has Sarah Ferguson by his side. For decades his ex-wife was his rock, but now her own ties to Jeffrey Epstein have destroyed her reputation too.

Police continue searches at Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's residences after release from custody
Mountbatten-Windsor, who was pictured slouched in the back of his chauffeur-driven car following his release Thursday evening from a police station near Sandringham, remains under investigation.

Police searched the former home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor again on Friday, a day after he was arrested and held in custody for nearly 11 hours on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his connections with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Palace would not oppose move to remove Andrew from succession
Buckingham Palace will not oppose plans to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession, the Guardian understands, as police confirmed a search of his former Windsor home would continue over the weekend.

Royal sources indicated on Saturday that King Charles would not stand in the way of parliament if it wanted to ensure the former prince could never ascend to the throne.

Prince Andrew Evidence Is ‘Damning’ as He Faces Life in Prison After Arrest, Says Expert
“The U.K. legal system and the U.S. legal system are quite different in terms of burden of proof and even procedure, but I don’t think anybody today wishes they were Prince Andrew,.” Sexton tells Us Weekly. “This is a very difficult situation, and I’m certainly glad I’m not his attorney because that is a very, very challenging case that’s presented against him. This is a situation where England and the U.K. are essentially taking the [Jeffery] Epstein charges, one might argue, a little more seriously than the United States.”

Andrew, 66, was released from police custody hours after his shocking arrest. Earlier this month, U.K. authorities confirmed they were looking into Andrew following allegations that the disgraced royal family member shared confidential information with the late billionaire sex trafficker during his tenure as a U.K. trade envoy from 2001 to 2011.

If convicted, Andrew faces life in prison.

“He’s certainly in a position where he’s been out of the graces of the royal family for a long time and for a myriad of reasons, but this is certainly the most damning pool of evidence that’s ever been provided against him,” Sexton tells Us. “It’s certainly something that any attorney looks at and says, ‘I would not want to try to make a meal out of those ingredients,’ because it is not a favorable one for him, and it’s a good one for the prosecution.”
