• Despite ordering Wexner to DC, Congress to depose him about Epstein in Ohio

NEW ALBANY, Ohio (WCMH) — House Oversight Democrats questioned Les Wexner, Ohio’s richest man, on Wednesday and said they doubted Wexner’s assertion he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.

Wexner issued a statement to begin the closed-door testimony and said he had no idea of convicted sex offender Epstein’s crimes. House Democrats spoke to media around 1 p.m. after three hours of questioning at Wexner’s New Albany estate. House Republicans on the Oversight Committee said the deposition had concluded by 5 p.m. and lasted approximately six hours.

“Les Wexner answered every question asked of him at today’s deposition. We will release the video and transcript soon,” a House Oversight Committee spokeswoman said.

House Democrats said there were no Republican members of Congress present at Wexner’s deposition, although Republicans selected the location. Wexner’s statement offered context regarding his former relationship, which he said ended in 2007. House Democrats said they felt Wexner was remembering “less and less” throughout their questioning, and several members said they felt confident Wexner knew about Epstein’s crimes.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio billionaire Les Wexner testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Wednesday, calling disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein a “world-class con man” and firmly denying any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s criminal activity.

Wexner, 88, the Columbus-area founder of L Brands and one of Ohio’s wealthiest residents, was subpoenaed by the committee to appear after a bipartisan vote last month. Members of the committee met privately with Wexner in New Albany, where he resides. The panel has been investigating Epstein’s sex trafficking network and anyone who may have enabled his crimes.

“I was naïve, foolish, and gullible to put any trust in Jeffrey Epstein,” Wexner said in a written statement provided to the committee. “He was a con man. And while I was conned, I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide.”
