Ian Maxwell: My sister Ghislaine has her family supporting her, unlike Andrew

The day Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested and charged with trafficking under-age girls in July 2020, her brother Ian found out by watching it on the BBC news.
“They sent in a helicopter and 20 armed agents, as though she were a menace to society,” he says. “It was unbelievable, totally shocking,” he says. “That was the moment my sister became a scapegoat for the dreadful crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.”
By chance we meet the day Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor faced a similar surprise raid, give or take a Sikorsky clattering overhead. The King’s brother made royal history – or rather infamy – on his 66th birthday when a convoy of unmarked police cars descended on his home in the Sandringham Estate and arrested him on suspicion of misconduct in public office. His family were given no prior notification either but there the resemblance ends. To my surprise Maxwell is fired up about his treatment.
“You have to note he hasn’t been charged with any sort of sexual offence. And the police will have looked really hard for evidence,” notes Maxwell, the implication being that none took place, ergo his sister was framed.
