Live updates: Bill Clinton testifies in House Epstein investigation
Former President Bill Clinton is testifying Friday before members of Congress who are investigating convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, answering for his connections to the disgraced financier from more than two decades ago.

The closed-door deposition in Chappaqua, New York, marks the first time a former president has been compelled to testify to Congress.

It comes a day after Clinton’s wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, sat with lawmakers for her own deposition, where she told lawmakers that she had no knowledge of how Epstein had sexually abused underage girls and had no recollection of even meeting him.

Neither Clinton has been accused of any wrongdoing.

Bill Clinton set to testify behind closed doors in House Epstein investigation
Bill Clinton will soon begin his testimony before the House Oversight Committee in a deposition related to its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

The former president and his lawyers are heading into today’s session with the expectation that he could be in for a long day of questioning, according to a source familiar with the process, possibly even longer than the five hours that Epstein associate Les Wexner sat for last week.

The deposition is happening in Chappaqua, New York, where the he and Hillary Clinton live. Hillary Clinton appeared before the House panel yesterday.

The location for the testimony was negotiated David Kendall, one of the Clintons lawyers, and Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, in hopes of avoiding the indignity and precedent-setting move of summoning a former president to Capitol Hill for questioning.

The depositions will be videotaped and Republican committee staff are aiming to release the video in a matter of days after the interviews are completed, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

Bill Clinton sits for deposition in House committee's Epstein investigation
Washington — Former President Bill Clinton is sitting for a deposition before the House Oversight Committee in New York on Friday as part of its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, marking the first time a former president has been compelled to testify to Congress.

The deposition caps what Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, the Republican chairman of the committee, described as a lengthy effort to secure testimony from both the former president and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, his wife. Both initially refused to comply with a subpoena before ultimately relenting under threat of a House vote to hold them in contempt.

"It took seven months — seven months — to get the Clintons in here, but we got them in here," Comer told reporters ahead of Bill Clinton's appearance. "We look forward to asking lots of questions that I think any curious media outlet in America would have."

Bill Clinton's testimony comes a day after Hillary Clinton spent hours with the panel. Comer said the former secretary of state frequently deferred questions about her husband's interactions with Epstein.

Bill Clinton to testify in Epstein investigation after Hillary ‘deferred a lot of questions’ to him: Live updates
Former President Bill Clinton will sit for a recorded deposition with the House Oversight Committee today, where lawmakers will question him about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein – a day after his wife, Hillary Clinton, did the same.

Lawmakers plan to question Bill Clinton about his knowledge of Epstein’s wealth resources, ties to foreign individuals and any travels to Epstein’s island – which Bill Clinton has vehemently denied ever visiting.

Republicans on the committee say the former president has a lot to answer for because Hillary Clinton “deferred” at least a dozen questions about Epstein to her husband.

The 42nd president had a social and professional relationship with Epstein – and photos of the pair emerged in the Epstein files – but he has denied wrongdoing and has not been formally charged with any crime connected to Epstein.

During her deposition on Thursday, Hillary Clinton stated that she had “no idea” about Epstein’s crimes and that she was being used to distract and cover up President Donald Trump’s actions.

Republican lawmakers asked her about her husband’s relationship with the billionaire pedophile, UFOs and conspiracy theories related to Pizzagate.

House oversight to grill Bill Clinton about Epstein visiting White House 17 times
Former President Bill Clinton is set to testify Friday before the House oversight committee, where Republicans say they plan to press him about Jeffrey Epstein’s visits to the White House and his past travel aboard the late disgraced financier’s private plane.

The closed-door deposition is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in Westchester County, New York, near the Clintons’ primary residence. Committee Chairman James Comer (R-OK) said lawmakers intend to question Clinton about Epstein’s 17 visits to the White House during his presidency, as well as flight logs showing Clinton flew on Epstein’s jet at least 27 times, the chairman said.

“We know President Clinton had — and Secretary Clinton confirmed this yesterday — Jeffrey Epstein was in the White House 17 times while Bill Clinton was president,” Comer told reporters Friday morning, referring to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony before the committee yesterday. “We know that Bill Clinton flew on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane at least 27 times. So those are questions that we’re going to ask.”

Comer described the deposition as part of a broader effort to question powerful figures connected to Epstein, while stressing that neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton is currently accused of wrongdoing.

‘I saw nothing and I did nothing’, Bill Clinton tells Epstein hearing
Bill Clinton told Congress he “saw nothing and I did nothing wrong” with Jeffrey Epstein.

Mr Clinton, the first former US president to be compelled to testify to Congress, said he had “no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing”.

He defended his wife Hillary Clinton, who faced her own grilling on Thursday over the couple’s links to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Mr Clinton said he would have “tuned himself in” if he had known of Epstein’s crimes.

“I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing. No matter how many photos you show me, I have two things that at the end of the day matter more than your interpretation of those 20-year-old photos,” he said in an opening statement.

“I know what I saw, and more importantly, what I didn’t see. I know what I did, and more importantly, what I didn’t do. I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.”

In his opening statement, Mr Clinton said he grew up in a home with “domestic abuse” and insisted he would not have flown on Epstein’s plane if he had an “inkling” about his criminal behaviour.

Bill Clinton plunges into historic Epstein deposition
Former President Bill Clinton testified under oath that he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes and "did nothing wrong" during a deposition before the House Oversight Committee on Friday.

Why it matters: Clinton's testimony marks the first time that a former president has been compelled to testify before a congressional committee under subpoena.

The top Democrat on the panel, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, said Clinton's deposition sets a precedent for the committee to depose President Trump and demanded Friday for Trump to testify before the panel.
